A modified bitumen roof is easier to install. Unlike EPDM roofs that need a torch or an open flame to “weld” onto the surface, a modified bitumen roof can be cold-applied. Plus, it’s easier in terms of roof repair; most damage to it occurs to its seams (which are fewer than any type of commercial roof), and you can simply buy a modified bitumen patch to replace the offending layer or section.

It uses reinforcing layers composed of either fiberglass or polyester.
